Weekly Roundup: 5/6 - 5/11

ATHLETIC WEEKLY ROUNDUP
MAY 6 THROUGH MAY 11
BOYS’ SWIMMING
  • On Friday of last week, Mullen’s swimmers traveled to the Veterans Memorial Aquatic Center in Thornton to participate in the 4A State 游泳 & Dive Championships.  诺亚穆尼, Oliver Valdex, 路加福音乔丹, and Henry Montgomery won a championship in the 400-yard Freestyle Relay.  Senior 诺亚穆尼 also finished 3rd in the 200-yard Individual Medley and 4th in the 100-yard 回来stroke.  Junior Oliver Valdez finished 5th in the 200-yard Individual Medley and 6th in the 100-yard Breaststroke, and Henry Montgomery posted a 3rd Place finish in the 100-yard Butterfly and 4th in the 200-yard Freestyle.  The team finished tied for 4th, overall. 
GIRLS’ SOCCER
  • On 5/8, The Mustang Girls’ Soccer team hosted Palisade High School in the first game of the 4A State Playoffs.  The Mustangs cruised to an easy 4-0 victory over the Dolphins. . The 15th seeded Mustangs next took on the  #2 seeded Northfield Nighthawks and lost 3-1. The team finished with a 9-7-1 record on the season. 
BOYS’ LACROSSE
  • 周三, the Mullen Mustangs took to the field against the 10th seeded Vail Mountain Gore Rangers.  The game was moved to Mullen when it was determined Vail Mountain was not going to be able to clear their field of snow.  In a wild game where Mullen found itself up big in the 4th-quarter, the Rangers came storming back and tied the game as time expired.  In sudden death overtime, Vail Mountain found the net first and turned away the upset minded Mustangs, 10-9.  The team finished the season  4-12. 
GIRLS’ LACROSSE
  • On Tuesday of last week, the #21-seeded Girls’ Lacrosse team hit the road for a playoff game against 12th-seeded Castle View High School at Douglas County Stadium in Castle Rock. The Mustangs kept it close for most of the game but fell 12-8 when the final buzzer sounded. The team finished 3-13 for the season. 
棒球
  • This past Saturday, The Mullen baseball team hit the diamond at Arapahoe High School in their final Centennial League matchup. The Mustangs came away with a big win defeating the Warriors 4-1. The team heads down to Pueblo on Monday to take on  Pueblo West High School and then sit back and wait as the State pairings come out on Wednesday.
女子网球
  • Girls tennis have been hopping these last couple of weeks.  They were in the 4A Team Championships and made it to the semifinal round where they lost to Cheyenne Mountain 6-1.  They also participated in the Regional 3 Individual Tournament and dominated.  This past weekend, Thursday through Saturday, they played in the 4A State Individual Championships.  Five out of seven positions made it to the semifinals but only one would prevail.  #2-Doubles defeated Cheyenne Mountain’s team to become State Champs.
女子高尔夫球
  • The team plays in the Region 4 Tournament to determine who gets to go to State on Monday and Tuesday of next week.
TRACK & 场
  • On 5/9, Mullen track and field athletes participated in the League Meet. The Girls team would finish in 6th out of 8 teams. The Boys’ track team finished in 7th out of 8 teams.  The next meet for the team will take place on 5/16 when they participate in the CHSAA 4A State Championships at Jeffco Stadium.
